Jeffrey L. Butcher, M.D.
General & Colorectal Surgery
Dr. Jeffrey Butcher was raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and attended college at the University of Pittsburgh. He came to the Philadelphia area for medical school at MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine and residency at Graduate Hospital. He did his colorectal fellowship at the Ferguson Clinic, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and returned to Chestnut Hill Hospital, where he spent significant time as a resident.
Dr. Butcher is married; his wife Janine Barsoum is an OB-GYN, and they have one son.
Dr. Butcher specializes in all aspects of colorectal surgery, including minimally invasive (laparoscopic, or “keyhole”) surgery, anorectal surgery, and colonoscopy. He has an interest in colon cancer, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and other functional disorders of the colon and rectum.
Dr. Butcher’s outside interests include hunting, fishing, cycling, and travel with his family. He also is a voracious reader, and has an eclectic collection of live music.
