Aley El-Din Tohamy, M.D.

Dr. Aley El-Din Tohamy is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He received his Medical Degree from University of Alexandria Medical School in 1998. He finished his General Surgery training at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia and he further specialized in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Tohamy practices Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. He is particularly interested in Laparoscopic Bariatric (weight reduction) surgery, including gastric bypass and adjustable band placement. His other areas of interest include Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal, Colorectal, Oncologic and Hernia Surgery. He is also interested in metabolic surgery and the benefit of weight loss surgery in treating metabolic syndromes like diabetes and hypertension.
Dr. Tohamy is an active member of several medical organizations including American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
