Thoracic Surgery

Dr. Scott Cowan performs all of the open and minimally invasive thoracic procedures, including lung and mediastinal surgery for the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. He can perform videoscopic surgery for lung infections, pneumothorax and emphysema related problems. He also works with the general surgery team on the treatment of esophageal cancer. Dr. Cowan is a member of the Thoracic Surgery team at the University of Pennsylvania/Presbyterian Medical Center and will occasionally take the sicker or more complex patients downtown for their surgery. But all of the patient’s pre and postoperative care will be performed here in our community and at the Wyndmoor office location and at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Dr. Cowan participates in our multidisciplinary tumor board and is a member of the CHH IRB committee. This is a committee that reviews all experimental protocols that the CHH physicians want to participate in.
