Surgical Oncology
Oncology refers to the treatment of cancers. Most cancers are treated by a multidisciplinary team, including medical oncologists (doctors who treat cancers with medicine – chemotherapy), radiation oncologists (doctors who treat cancers with radiation) and the surgical oncologist who provides the surgical treatment before or after the others provide their cancer care. The oncology team at Chestnut Hill Hospital also consists of social and psychology support personnel through our Cancer Center. All of our cancer patients have their case reviewed by the multidisciplinary Tumor Board and an individual plan for their treatment is made. Chestnut Hill Hospital participates in many clinical trials for the advancement of cancer care.
Chestnut Hill Surgical Associates at Chestnut Hill Hospital is able to provide comprehensive surgical care for the major malignancies, including: breast, colon, lung, thyroid, esophageal, pancreas, stomach, liver, small bowel, soft tissue sarcomas, etc.
