Comprehensive Breast Program

Breast Cancer Awareness RibbonThe Chestnut Hill Health System Women's Center features a comprehensive breast care program, recognizing the importance of awareness and education as well as state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of breast disease.

Breast Health Program

The breast health program at the Women's Center brings together the latest in diagnostic technology, clinical expertise and support services required for comprehensive breast care in a comfortable environment.

"Since the Women's Center opened 11 years ago, we've been building the components of a strong program," says Patricia Bailey, M.D., Medical Director of the Women's Center.  "Now we've brought the services together and added staff for a truly comprehensive program."

The breast health program offers a multidisciplinary approach to preventing, detecting and treating breast problems, providing women with a team of support.  They treat women with a variety of breast issues from benign conditions such as cysts or fibroadenomas to cancer.

"Our coordinated effort reduces scheduling times for appointments to expedite diagnoses and treatment," says Dr. Bailey.

The breast health team includes board-certified Penn surgeons, radiologists, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, reconstructive surgeon, therapists, support from our Cancer Center including a social worker, national clinical trials, current resources and our newest addition -- a breast health coordinator.

"Gail Linberg, R.N., our breast health coordinator, assists women through their entire breast care experience here at the Women's Center," says Dr. Bailey.  "She is an educator and advocate who provides patients with support services and helps them make informed decisions about their care."

Linberg facilitates communication and scheduling among all care providers; streamlines the scheduling process for additional studies, breast biopsies and physician appointments and assists with access to support services.

Patients can schedule an appointment for a mammogram or breast ultrasound by calling centralized scheduling at 215-248-8400.  Gail Linberg can be reached at 215-248-8084.
